The Midlands Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Network (MHFCN) led by Adelan proposed the first Hydrogen Strategy for the UK back in 2017, which eventually led to the UK Hydrogen Strategy publication of August 2021. In December 2021 Adelan oversaw the publication of the Midlands Hydrogen Technologies Strategy which built on the strengths of the Midlands Region to deliver the Hydrogen Economy. Two years in the making, it outlined the opportunity offered by hydrogen for the region.
Following the failure of UK policy makers to increase hydrogen availability since August 2021, the UK Mission Innovation Hydrogen Champion recently published a simple 3 step solution to building a UK green hydrogen ecosystem in a US publication. These 3 simple steps have been proven capable of delivering growing hydrogen economies in many other countries around the world and can be used to grow the UK hydrogen economy. The 3 required elements are: 1) National strategy, 2) Regional clustering, 3) Democratized UK technology funding. Key to the national plan is listening to expert advice on building a UK Hydrogen Technology Strategy, that supplements the UK Hydrogen Strategy which principally funds actions to deliver hydrogen fuel.
