This Innovate UK funded project examined the feasibility of a new Adelan device in the field of fuel cells, between 2016-17. The invention enables more economic clean portable power generation in stationary vehicles such as campervans and blue light vehicles (e.g. ambulances), reducing air pollution emissions. With a new fuel cell design, Adelan reduced the parts count and costs of a portable system to accelerate the penetration of this technology into portable generator markets. The medium term commercial objective was to manufacture the new design in large numbers by 2020. The University of Birmingham supported the project by developing sealant and metal interconnect materials.
