This project designed, optimised and built several 200W_e mSOFC stacks, to integrate them into hybrid power systems comprising the fuel cell, a battery and appliances found in a recreational vehicle (RV). The project is primarily aimed at the RV platform from Autosleepers of the Trigano Group, based in the UK. LPG is a preferred onboard fuel for RVs, used in cookers, fridges and water heaters, with superior energy density compared to hydrogen and methanol. LPG is also widely available at filling stations throughout Europe. The system was found suitable for other applications such as boats, ambulances, welfare and environmental testing vehicles also.
